A relative's male dog, Max, is nearing the end of life and the relative is planning to get a female dog soon, and will eventually replace their beloved Max. I believe Maxine is a good name choice for this dog who will always remind these relatives of Max. I consider the naming of a dog to be personal, particularly in this case; it is not a popularity contest.
